In a future long-durational journey scenario beyond low-Earth orbit, our research looks into the space food system and the possibilities of improving the experience of cooking and eating during space flight. With the aim of improving the space traveller’s experience and overall well-being, and inspired by astronaut’s all-time favourite: the tortilla, we came up with the first series of 3D plates, called WRAP-X, specifically designed for micro-gravitational use and enhanced with bacteria.
